Energy East Pipieline - A Gift!?

For all of us that are constantly watching, we know that some large energy super project announced deep in the dog days of summer must be a real indicator of how utterly horrendous it is going to be. The date was no doubt agreed upon by the fart catchers and spin doctors at the Prime Ministers Office and the head suite of management of Trans Canada somewhere in soggy Calgary.

Energy East Armageddon coming to you soon!

What is being planned is that Trans Canada is going to take a fifty year old natural gas line and convert it to carrying raw bitumen from the tar sands in Alberta right across Canada, all the way out to New Brunswick. Now for people that know of such things, transporting raw bitumen down a steel pipe is very similar to sandblasting it from the inside 24 / 7. Among all other kinds of problems. See the attached video that describes some the worst problems.

The New Quebec?

One of the most important issues was not even touched upon in the old style vulgar media, and that is the fact that this pipeline will run through Canada's nations capital of Ottawa! And if that is the case, where is all the natural gas going to come from in the winters of the future? And do you really believe that this will lead to lower fuel prices in Eastern Canada? What good will cheap auto gas be if we are doomed to freeze in the dark every winter? Compared to Western Canadians and Conservatives, the Oracle of Ottawa would rather take his chances with the Arabs and the South Americans. 

If this bitumen is shipped out to Eastern Canada to be processed in Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick where are we going to locate the resulting tar ponds of the resulting sludge that will be generated by the millions of tons? Why is it that it is only Western Canadians and Conservatives that think it is all right to shit in your own nest for a quick dollar?  

Much noise is being made of the chemicals that are added to the sludge tar sands to make them flow in a pipe. The industry refuses to release their chemical make up to the press or to the regulators! The Oracle of Ottawa can not but help think that there is much information in this situation. Which raises the question that the so called Energy East Pipeline may not be for bitumen oil at all but rather for the toxic waste that it can not get rid of in the Keystone XL pipeline due to that pesky American agency called the EPA! 

Another fact that the Oracle of Ottawa would like to bring to the light of day is the beginning incidence of birth defects in Ontario of children of young men that are currently employed in frack'ing operations out West! If you really want to put the brakes to this criminal carnage that would be a good place for a pesky NGO to start. The Oracle of Ottawa has heard of several weird cases of additional children that have been born after Dad has gone out West to work. Weird blood abruptions in child births were there was never any record of this in either side of the parents family trees. 

'Harper Government' - Like A Monkey At Ikea

'Harper Government' Minister awaits limo...

Ho! Ho! Ho! Some days it is really good to get up and chase the 'Harper Government' like rats across the frozen tundra. Today's Question Period was a real barn burner. One of the best of the year, so far. And it looks like Chris Charlton of the NDP is going to win the analogy of the year, when she compared the actions of the 'Harper Government' to a monkey lost at Ikea. The place went nuts! And the Oracle of Ottawa noticed that the Chrome Domed Gris himself showed signs of sweat breaking through his do-me make-up, and his pity-fuck gray lipstick actually started to smudge! Oh yes, dear reader, the wave of shit is starting to break over the 'Harper Government', as the Oracle of Ottawa predicted.

The main hot points were the secret conditions of the CNOOC deal that was approved on Friday last. Well it seems they are a secret! But the Oracle of Ottawa has figured some of them out. The first rule is that there will be no more competition. So that is why the rules are changed as announced  at the press conference Friday last. 

It also seems that the fighter planes that we had a signed deal for, was not real, and although all the bullshit has run up a cost of millions of dollars, the 'Harper Government' still hasn't spent one cent on any airplanes! Yes dear reader, the 'Harper Government' looks like a monkey lost at Ikea.... 

What are the secret agreements? The Chinese can send all the indentured coolies they can find?

It did not surprise the Oracle of Ottawa at all when the British Columbia Premier Christy Clark finally stood up and balked good and loud about the financial arrangements of the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline that is going to divide British Columbia in two. (In more ways then one...) What really surprised the Oracle of Ottawa was that the Lotus Landers were going to allow the monstrosity to be built with out any revenue stream accruing to the provincial coffers! It is not a very good idea to take a bunch of knuckle dragging Alberta oil oligarch's at their word!

Don't Forget The Meter Stations!!

Now poor Allison Redford is going to find out what she is really in for. Wee Christy Clark is not stupid to demand the money from the Alberta government out of its royalty stream. Ms. Clark is very well briefed on how hard it is to get anything that will cost the Alberta knuckle draggers actual hard coin out of pocket on a timely and regular basis. And good on ya Girl! The Oracle of Ottawa figures that a per barrel per diem of a mere ten per cent (retail market price - Henry Hub) is not at all unreasonable. Electronically wired to the the province of British Columbia daily at twelve noon, or else the gates shut and all transfers are seized immediately. One must be firm when dealing with spoiled rotten oligarchs!

The Oracle of Ottawa takes great comfort that the wrench is now in the Alberta gear box. This will surely screw up the insane plan to pipe raw tar sand to Ontario! Like we really want that! You see dear reader, when Alberta is exporting raw tar sand to you, they are not exporting oil, they are in reality exporting tar sand tailings ponds! It has finally dawned on them that they shouldn't be the only ones whose grandchildren will have two or more heads, or even better, none at all. And won't it look great to the vulgar media when it appears that the "Harper Government" cannot control Quebec, and then have to admit that it cannot even control it's own home patch!

Meanwhile deep in the departments of the Privy Council, the "Harper Government" Bund is most worried and subdued. Their masters, the Peoples Republic of China, are not likely to be in the mood for anymore foolish democratic delays. All parties involved know who has the "goods" on who. For all those in the old vulgar media who just happen to have drawn the short straw of covering this "debate" should keep a very close eye on the fax machine(s)... Yes the micro dicks of the "Harper Government" are very deep into the pencil sharpener. (Made in China...)

Now we all know that the lead company of this future environmental fiasco cannot even keep a pipeline going that has the real slippery stuff in it, like wet natural gas and that sweet slippery oil. What do you think is going to happen when they start shipping sand paper grit in suspension, otherwise known as tar sand down a metal pipe under high pressure? Yes indeed, the Aboriginal Peoples of British Columbia along with Christy Clark are very right indeed. There is nothing in this for us...

Hmmmm... I don't think so....

The Artificial 'Harper Government' Labor Shortage

Watching the proceedings of the House and all the Question Periods, the Oracle of Ottawa is constantly bewildered at the constant mention of the dire labor shortages now and into the future, that are constantly being referred to by the Minister of Human Disasters,  Diane Finley. Yet for the life of this 'umbule blogger, it is all news to me! Not once have they actually mentioned where and in what fields these present and future dire labor shortages are occurring. Could it just be in the field of Conservative manufacturing, i.e. burger joints? Or is it in the Conservative field of high tech, i.e. call centers?

Tar Sands - Will be abandoned in less than ten years....

The Oracle of Ottawa is just appalled at the butchering of the Employment Insurance system as now being perpetrated  by the Tory Bund. Later in Canadian history it will be recorded as a crime against humanity that we suffered under the years of the 'Harper Government'. Watching the proceedings in the House today the Oracle of Ottawa was in constant wonder. Wondering how someone in an out-port in Newfoundland is ever going to get to their new burger flipping job just one hour away from home, for minimum wage, when there is literally no road to drive on! Now the Oracle of Ottawa may be wrong on this, but he has a sneaking suspicion that there are not too many, if any out-porters, that have an I-Phone that receives E-mail! And an even further suspicion that very few people in out-ports would even want such a pain in the ass device!

Also the Oracle of Ottawa was very right again, and way early, and again no one listened. But months ago I wrote in this blog just how powerful the corporate burger lobby is in Canada. And the scummy retail lobby, that consists of the worlds largest retailer, have a nice day! Changes in the new EI rules will let you work part time for the burger joint and the scummy American retailers and not have all your EI clawed back. This appears to the Oracle of Ottawa as the blatant subsidizing of burger joints and scummy retail companies that no one wants to work for at any time! Sort of like 21st century forced indentured labor! Prove me wrong...

Through much of the Oracle of Ottawa's life he lived in a mixed capitalist economy. Basically it was take it or leave it. Today, capitalism, as defined by the 'Harper Government' is take it or else! The actual hidden agenda part is to get as many stupid hapless, frightened, passive and obedient workers for the Calgary Flyer to the scummy tar sands! Of course these poor rubes will never get the job with the "name" company, but rather, they will be fodder of a "contractor". You know it's all pretty scummy when they pay "bonus" money if you show up for the second flight.....
