'Harper Government' - The Desired State Of Nature

Well it all went off as the spin doctors and the fart catchers scripted it. Another fatal attempt of the 'Harper Government' to change Canada forever. And of course the crafty Europeans did their homework and knew that ole Steve Harpers little micro dick is well and stuck in the proverbial pencil sharpener, and duly took full advantage of him at the last minute, by getting the 'Harper Government' to abandon certain visa restrictions on certain European Union member states. No doubt Roma the world over will be celebrating and packing at this very moment.

We all now know as common knowledge that the goal of the 'Harper Government' is to change Canada forever. The method deployed has been that of a large number of barely noticeable changes. But what exactly is the desired state of nature at the end of this process? Of course the Oracle of Ottawa has found the answer and as a public service, he will share the knowledge with his faithful and Dear Readers.

It was the great Thomas Hobbes who in1651 stated that man starts out in an elementary state of nature, where all war against all. Well the Oracle of Ottawa can assure you Dear Reader, that this is not the state of nature that the 'Harper Government wants at all. Rather, the 'Harper Government' wants a state of nature of Us and Them. The ruling one percent is the Us group. The remaining ninety nine percent is the Them group, better known as you and I. The end goal of the 'Harper Government' is to achieve a state of nature where by there remain no protections at all for the Them group for the abuses and exploitation that is rendered unto them by the Us group. But there will always just enough government to protect the ill gotten gains of the Us group from any uprising of the Them group. This is the 'Harper Government' ideal of the optimum size of government, got that?

But although the so called deal has been signed, it is a long way from in and done. It still has to be ratified by all ten provinces and three territories in Canada and all twenty eight nation states of the European Union!! That is ole Steve Harper of the 'Harper Government' has to call forty one correct coin tosses in a row! That is one chance  in 2,199, 023, 000, 000 or one chance in 2.199 trillion. Good luck with that!

For all you people of the Federal Republic of Germany  who are scouring the blogs to really find out what the hell was going on in Canada on August 15, 2012 on the arrival of your Chancellor, Angela Merkel and the utter shit storm of controversy it caused, especially in Canada, well, you arrived at the right blog. The Oracle of Ottawa was determined to give all this gonzo reporting a break this summer, it was all going so well until I saw the coverage, or rather the deplorable lack of it on the local television networks.

If you German people ever wonder what Germany looks like to someone outside Germany and outside the European Union, let the Oracle of Ottawa give you his view. You guys simply have one of the most competent and able leaders of any democracy on the planet Earth today. The Oracle of Ottawa really likes Angela Merkel! The Oracle of Ottawa really believes the world view that she is the defacto leader of the European Union. Believe me you could do a lot worse...like we are right now at this point in our history.

Canada is a nation of the Western world. Our history and descent is that of Western Civilization. People of German descent make up over ten percent of Canada's present population! You can check that here. Therefore, if the Oracle of Ottawa was Canadian Prime Minister, your leader would have had not only the Mounties in the red surge, but a full military honour guard and an excellent band playing your national anthem as your duly elected leader descended from her plane! If she would have declined, her aircraft would have been taxied into a private hanger, and there would not have been any coverage at all! As you can see from the clip of the arrival it was all a hell of a disgrace! The Oracle of Ottawa was appalled and utterly disgusted.

It seems that the present 'Harper Government' is more intent, for what ever reason, to emulate Bejing instead of Berlin! And you believe the Oracle of Ottawa, there are a whole lot of Canadians who do not go along with this at all! The Oracle of Ottawa has been hoping for closer ties with the European Union since its full inception. Canada has pissed away a wonderful opportunity to be aligned with the biggest economy and hegemon on the Earth today!  The Oracle of Ottawa would rather be European in outlook and fortune than to be Chinese or Asian in any degree! (Damn peasants!)

People in Europe must be wondering why the 'Harper Government' is so hell bent on sucking up, at every opportunity to the Peoples Republic of China. Well let the Oracle of Ottawa fill you in on that. The Chinese government, through many and deep and complex entrapment's, all but "owns" the 'Harper Government', if you follow my drift. The Chinese embassy in Ottawa knows how to exploit the old white guys "ricer" fantasies! It is blatant, nasty, lewd and visceral. The Oracle of Ottawa has seen it in action himself in Ottawa! Less than 1000 metres from CSIS headquarters!

And of course, when had by the short hairs, the hearts and minds of those owned follow, don't they? Can I be any more frank than that? I think not. The Oracle of Ottawa imagines what these talks could have led to...Imagine traveling from the West Coast of Canada to the edge of the old Soviet Union on just one passport! Imagine the European Union with Canada in it! The Oracle of Ottawa gets an incredible erection just thinking about the hordes of high dollar European Union tourists that would surely be the result! But it seems that the 'Harper Government' prefers the certain superiority over hordes of loud, coarse, low dollar,Chinese peasants in their unending lines of tour buses... As is commonly known in the best places in Europe, there really is no accounting for taste, is there?

How disgusting is this? There will be no trade agreement of any kind with the European Union. The Peoples Republic of China simply will not allow it!

Globalization Free Trade Fail

God! What a haul it was! Finally finished reading George Ritzers monster book on globalization, entitled Globalization - A Basic Text. Yes, dear reader,  the Oracle of Ottawa read it so you wouldn't have to. Drier than all the sand dunes in Libya. But in conjunction with the Oracle of Ottawa's Thinking About Thinking Project, I think I have made several breakthroughs! You don't need the Oracle of Ottawa to tell you that there is really something fishy with this globalization crap. When you hear the knuckle dragging social Darwinist's of the Conservative Party of Canada going on about its wonders you know you have to be worried. And when you are sitting at home in, say, Southern Ontario, waiting for your first unemployment check, that you are not going to get, because your workplace just left for Mexico or China without you, then you will know that globalization is a crock of crap. How did it all come to this?

Milton Friedman - Fooled ya!

It is all a very convoluted and twisted tale. The two names you will hear the most often are Adam Smith and David Ricardo. The right wing Chicago School economist will go on endlessly about the benefits of the Invisible Hand as first written about by Adam Smith, then this will lead invariably to a long dissertation on the brilliance of Comparative Advantage. Now the Chicago School is big and unquestioned ever since Milton Friedman did his big thing in Chile, you know that miracle story? But when you really look at the whole thing closely today, you see it was all an engineered set up. It seemed to be old Milty's big rush to get into the Ivy League. Never happened, alas. Now you will hear about the miracle of the Chicago Boys, but did you hear about the bits about the Ford Foundation and the United States State Department? Geez, you soon come to realize that once with the full unimpeded power of the United States of America you could make darkness happen at noon! Let us just say that the playing field was altered somewhat before the said great experiment even started! And of course that coup thing had nothing to do with the "successful" outcome...

Well, the Oracle of Ottawa has discovered two new logical fallacies that allow this crap to be continued to be sold. The first fallacy I call Era Displacement. For example comparing the workings of comparative advantage in the time of David Ricardo to the modern world of today! Workers at the time of Ricardo who were engaged in so called foreign trade were not much better off in respect to one another, more or less. In todays modern world, there are great differences between the workers of the first world and the third world! And when you allow the capitalist corporate pigs to carry off our factories to third world countries, you are essentially allowing them to export unpaid for surplus labour back to the originating country, got it? Talk about adding insult to injury! Ponder that for a moment! And soon your first world country will be transformed ever so slowly to a third world country! Don't believe me? Just ask anyone that lives in say Windsor, Ontario...

Working through another problem....

The second fallacy is very similar to the first, but very subtle, I call it the fallacy of Proportion Displacement. Free trade between similar countries of social development will more or less work pretty well. But so called free trade between a first world country and a third world country is a total rip off for the citizens of the first world country, and the citizens of the third world country. The only ones that really laugh all the way to the bank coming and going are the right wing economists and the global corporate whores, of no fixed address.
Now the Oracle of Ottawa has a solution to these two newly discovered fallacies. See my blog post entitled "A Gold Standard For the Rest Of Us". (Not a neo-con rant...) Totally solved it didn't I? And by the way, it was not Karl Marx who first coined the concept of surplus labour, it was Adam Smith! Can you find the exact reference in The Wealth of Nations?  No? Some economist you are!
